Good Design Essay
A new technology for a good blend of form and function would be a wireless hair straightener. This would benefit anyone who straightens their hair. I asked many of my friends if they would use this product and many of them said “Hayley you need to invent this product. I would so use it!” This new design would have no cord, a charger and quicker functions. With having no chord, you will not be confined to one area. You would need to charge it and not use batteries. The quicker functions are it will heat up in seconds and automatically shut off with not using it in ten minutes for safety. This hair straightener is nothing like anything out their yet.
Having this product being wireless is a great feature on this straightner. With a chord you are very limited to what you can do and where you can go. With a chord sometimes it will get tangled and it will take time for you untangle it out. With it being wireless you have more mobility with it. By not having a cord attached, it will be easier to straighten the back. Having any electronic that is wireless is a benefit, even a hair straightener.
Having a chord on a hair strighterner is beneficial because you would have no need to charge the straightnener but with the new cordless one there is a rechargeable battery. Most wireless devices have batteries and once they are done you throw them away or the batteries you use have to be charged in a different place. Now with this straightener it will do it all in one. The charger for this straightener is also the holder for it too. The life of the battery can last up to 12 hours on a maximum heat of 25 (325 degrees). A charger is just one of the many perks of this device and so are the quicker functions.
Most hair straighteners take about a minute to heat up and do not shut off automatically after use. By not having automatic shut off this can lead to house fires and safety hazard. If you think you turned your staightener off then later touch it, you can get very badly injured. A lot of people today are in a rush and do not have time to wait for the straightener to heat up. With this new straightener the maximum time for heat up is thirty seconds and will heat up to the maximum heat level which is 25 (325 degrees). I guarantee this straightener will straighten any type of hair in half the time of the competing straighteners on the market today.
Through out the years technology has changed rapidly. Many electronics were invented then later updated to wireless such as the telephone and the computer to a laptop. Another type of wireless device is remote controls. For a television you would need to go up to the TV to change channels and now we can sit on the couch, 10 feet away from us and press buttons on the remote to view different channels and change the volume. Gaming systems have controllers too but they also have wireless ones for Xboxes, Playstaions and Wiis.
First Paragraph Great Actions
The quote “great actions speak to all humankind” means by doing one good action can change humankind for the better. This can be interpreted in many different ways. A great action can be by helping someone or making a good decision for yourself. By helping someone can set a good example for the person getting helped or another person watching. Hopefully by seeing a good deed being done people can pass on another good deed. By helping others out, I think the world would be a better place for everyone.

The Blackberry Curve- Just a phone?
The most important technology invention to benefit society is the Blackberry Curve by Research In Motion (RIM). The Blackberry Curve or The Curve for short has a GPS, a mobile phone and functions as a mini computer. The GPS provides accurate directions for destinations. The mobile phone is for calling and messaging anywhere and anytime. The computer application enables you to access the internet and other computer programs. Ownership of a Blackberry Curve will benefit your life because it has the essentials of technology combined all into one small handheld device.

Why purchase a GPS separately when a Blackberry Curve already has an integrated GPS as one of its features. Instead of printing directions on Mapquest, or asking someone for directions you can use the GPS. GPS is the acronym for Global Positioning System. It shows a way of direction by satellites and the positioning of latitude and longitude. Enter the address of your destination into the GPS and it will calculate the route for you. If you vear off in a different direction the GPS will automatically recalculate the direction for you and get you back on the proper course. Instead of using the GPS you can call or message someone for directions using the mobile phone.

The Blackberry Curve functions as a mobile phone. Prior to 1990, callers were primarily immobile with few options other than land line phones. The Curve is very useful because while on the road we can call to be in communication with others. Mobile phones have a messaging option. Most cell phones have Short Message Service (SMS) text messaging and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).SMS messaging is very beneficial because if talking is not convenient, you may send a SMS text message and the other party will receive it in a matter of seconds. MMS messaging is beneficial as well allowing you to send a picture or song by phone. Instead of sending a text message you can use the email application on your Blackberry because it has the function of a computer in the palm of your hand.

The Curve functions as a mini computer. Unlike most mobile phones which have the same keys as a regular house phone, the Blackberry Curve has a full QWERTY keyboard just like a laptop or desktop computer. To obtain internet on the Curve you can use Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) like you would use for a laptop. Another option is you can access internet though your service provider when you are traveling (AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon, and Sprint). When you want to send a message but not through SMS or MMS you can use email or AIM (America Online Instant Messenger). Using the email function is similar to what you would use on a computer. To access your mail, you can go to your emails homepage or click on the message option on the Blackberry’s main menu. Next click the compose e-mail option. The AIM feature is available too. Just select the AIM button on the main menu and sign in with your screen name. You will being talk to your friends like you would on a computer. The Blackberry is very beneficial to society today.

Technology is changing and improving very rapidly these days. The Blackberry Curve is not even a year old, and RIM has come out with a new and improved Blackberry, the Blackberry Storm for the Verizon network. Instead of having a full QWERTY keyboard with buttons, the new model has touch screen buttons which you can actually feel it push and vibrate as you type. This is the newest model to the Blackberry family, but I know it will not be the last.
